Recruitment for Clinician Reviews

Project Title

Rating scale for psychological symptoms for patients experiencing movement disorders

The Challenge

The original instrument had a moderate bias towards language used outside the US.

My Role

Lead Recruiter, Linguistic Liaison, and Qualitative Analyst.

The Methodology

Using my network of physicians in the US, I recruited key opinion leaders working at the top academic institutions in the Midwest area of the US. After recruitment, I briefed them on the requirements for this project, including guidance on how to use a Concept Elaboration Guide. After gathering their insights, I conducted an analysis to surface relevant topics.

Key Insights

Clinicians mainly focused on the use of regionalisms that might hinder comprehension among clinicians based in the US. While no critical errors were detected, their recommendations did give insights into the difficulties that their peers would face without any revisions.

The Impact

Revised instrument ready for use in the US with reduced bias towards language used in other regions.
