Clinician review

Project Title

Rating scale for abnormal movement assessment

The Challenge

The original instrument had issues with the instructions describing how to perform the assessment, increasing the risk of mistakes during the rating of abnormal movements.

My Role

Clinician reviewer and clinical consultant

The Methodology

Thematic analysis of key issues surfaced during initial scoping. I then meticulously researched how the rating procedure is done. This included discussions with peers to understand current clinical practices and logistics that might affect the delivery of this assessment.

Key Insights

I was able to reach a consensus on the changes needed to ensure that clinicians would not face any issues while rating abnormal movements in the target population.

The Impact

Revised instrument ready for licensing, grammatical corrections based on peers’ insights and reduced language bias.
